I have been a therapist consulting with individuals and couples since 1978 and established my private practice in 1988 after moving with my family to Prairie Village, Kansas.
I have a strong interest in what can be learned from the natural sciences about relationships and behavior and use a family systems perspective in my clinical work as well as in my teaching. I believe that the neurosciences, in particular, contribute an understanding of how the human brain develops and functions in social relationships. This knowledge, in turn, is helpful in learning how to improve individual and relationship functioning.
I have been teaching and supervising for over 25 years. Along with Carroll Hoskins, LSCSW, I direct an educational and clinical training program for area therapists in the ongoing study of Bowen family systems theory and therapy.
